What version of Cscape do I need?

• Cscape 10 is a major new release that offers a variety of significant enhancements to the User Interface, Logic and Screen development.  These advancements can be realized by any OCS user utilizing any current Horner OCS platform.

• In addition – Cscape 10 contains a large number exclusive features for the new Canvas line of All-in-one Controllers.  This is especially true as it relates to the Canvas Advanced Graphics engine – where a number of screen development tools and graphics objects have been reimagined from the ground up.

• For Canvas users, Cscape 10 is required.  We invite non-Canvas OCS users to transition to Cscape 10 on their desired schedule – proceeding as is customary with any major software release before its deployment in the field.

• For some time, both versions (Cscape 9.9 and Cscape 10) will be available as current releases on the Horner Automation website.  This will allow customers the flexibility to utilize the version that best meets their needs during this transition period.

Who Should Download The Latest Version of Cscape?

  • Users downloading Cscape for the first time.
  • All Users of the XL and X OCS series of Controllers.
  • Users who wish to use WebMI
  • Users who wish to utilize the product enhancements

Horner APG attempts to ensure full upward compatibility for new releases of Cscape. However, before deploying any new software package, users should take the necessary steps to validate that the new software does not introduce problems in their application.

This software has been thoroughly tested, and every precaution has been taken to prevent the introduction of new issues that may be problematic in your application. It is always important for customers to perform their own internal system testing before the deployment of the new software.

Carefully Read These Steps Before Downloading and Installing the Latest Version of Cscape:

  • If you choose to install the latest version of Cscape and retain previous full versions of Cscape (such as 9.00), you must move the previous full versions to a new folder(s) before installing the latest version of Cscape
  • Back up all application files (.csp) before using the latest version of Cscape. Once application files are saved in the latest version of Cscape, they can no longer be opened with previous versions of Cscape

Cscape Overview

Logic

Cscape features a powerful IEC-61131 style free form, drag and drop ladder editor. Nearly 100 functions to choose from, including conversion, string handling, advanced math, flow control and more. IEC-61131 languages now come as standard with Cscape.

In developing the IEC 61131 standard, the International Electrotechnical Commission identified five programming languages as the most common for a variety of programmable controllers. The IEC 61131 standard’s languages have been adopted across industries in response to a larger field of automation vendors, increased application complexity, and more diverse methods for implementing various control functions. The IEC 61131’s five programming languages are Ladder Diagram, Instruction List, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, and Sequential Function Chart. Each language has advantages and disadvantages depending on a control engineer’s desired application.

For example, Ladder Diagram has the advantages of universal language acceptance and increased ease of changing code, while Instruction List and Structured Text offer European acceptance and increased PLC ease of execution. Structured Text is also much easier for control engineers to learn and use, and it allows complex mathematical operations to be implemented with ease. Sequential Function Chart makes final user maintenance simpler and is especially useful in applications that contain repeating processes or processes with interlocks and concurrent operations.

Operator Interface

Designed to simplify development of your Operator Interface screens while you develop your control logic. Screens can be called up from ladder logic or operate independently. Use a single set of I/O references-no duplication of effort. Users can design their HMI screens using an intuitive drag-and-drop interface.

Cscape offers elements like buttons, gauges, meters, switches, graphs, and indicators can be easily added to the screen. Cscape also allows importing custom images and graphics into HMI screens, enabling personalization for each application. Cscape’s flexibility allows the operator interface to be designed in multiple languages, making it easier for you to deploy globally or in diverse language settings.

I/O configuration

Configure all your I/O from Cscape manually or automatically.  Built-in expansion and remote I/O are all handled in a straight-forward manner.

Features include:
  • Relay Ladder Logic
  • Floating Point Math
  • Motion Commands
  • Serial Read and Write Functions
  • Auto Tune PID
