Today is all about providing tips and tricks that will help you use OCS 360 more effectively.

We will start with a quick review of OCS 360 before diving into some demonstrations.

Finally, we will end with some previews of what is on the horizon for OCS 360.

Let’s begin.

To start, what is OCS360?

OCS360 is a cloud service provided by Horner.

It allows you to push data from your Horner controller to the cloud.

OCS360 is a very powerful solution with a wide range of features, including up to five years of data recording, dashboarding capabilities, alarm annunciation or notification via emails or texts, and much more.

OCS360 is supported by all Prime and Canvas series controllers, with the Micro Series support coming later in 2026.

OCS360 requires a subscription per controller to an annual data plan.

With that covered, let’s now dive into our demonstrations, starting with how to add a controller to OCS360.

Here we are in Cscape.

Currently, this is the program that we have running in the controller we wish to add OCS360 to.

Specifically, we want to add telemetry capabilities.

To enable OCS360 is quite simple.

Just navigate to the Program Variables menu and in the OCS360 column click the checkbox for each variable that you want to push to the OCS360 cloud.

This will create a very basic OCS360 configuration in your controller.

We can check this configuration by navigating under Networking to OCS360.

As you can see, all the variables we checked off have been added to this list.

To ensure this is connected to your account, you should see your Horner account ID up here.

If you don’t, we will demonstrate how to perform this manually in just a moment.

Everything in your list will be uploaded to the cloud connected to this account ID.

But we can tweak the settings of this upload down here.

You can decide when to update the data, whether it’s periodic, based on a trigger, on a change of state, or on a change of value.

When using periodic updates, it’s recommended to keep the publish interval to at least one second above the plan limit to avoid unexpected rate limit violations.

Otherwise, you can choose any of these options and, once satisfied, click OK.

Now, simply download this program to your controller.

To finish this setup, we are now going to move to the controller.

Here we are on our controller, and in the system menu, if we scroll down we can find OCS360.

Here we have a few options, starting with account ID.

This menu will display your account ID, which we discussed earlier.

Whenever you download a program that uses OCS360 functionality, this value should be automatically populated within Cscape.

If, however, this isn’t happening, you can simply note down the account ID here and manually type it in in Cscape.

Next, under telemetry, we have a list of settings we can use to adjust how we want telemetry to work.

To initiate telemetry on this device, we would simply enable the switch at the top.

However, first we need to ensure our controller is registered in the OCS360 dashboard. Otherwise, a successful connection will not be possible.

Moving back to our computer, here we are in the OCS360 dashboard.

We are currently in the Devices menu, and as you can see, we already have a controller added. Let’s now add a new controller.

Click on the plus icon at the top of the Devices menu.

This is the Add New Device wizard, and the The key piece of information we need for this process is the MAC address on our controller.

First, however, we will give it a name.

We have chosen CPU 300 OVEN.

As that best describes our controller.

Then for communication mode we will select TELEMATRY ONLY for now.

Next we need to fill in our MAC address.

The MAC address of your controller can be found on your controller.

simply scroll to the top of the Systems menu and click into the Networks tab, then in the LAN tab at the top we can find our MAC address.

Here however it is known as the MAC ID, so now we can take this value and type it into OCS360.

Once we are sure our MAC address is correct we can click the Confirm MAC Address box and then add the controller.

Now our controller has been added, but it’s still reading as inactive.

To fix this, we will go back to our controller and enable telemetry from the system menu.

To initiate telemetry on this device, we would simply enable the switch at the top.

Our controller should now be connected, but to make sure, we are going to do a power cycle.

This is important, as sometimes the OCS360 connection won’t correctly initiate until has had the chance to start from power up.

If we now check back in the OCS360 dashboard, we can see that our controller is successfully connected.

Next, let’s look at some account settings that you might not be aware of.

To access account settings, navigate to the three dots in the top right corner and select account.

This is the account settings menu and we have four main tabs here, profile, billing, security and notification settings.

Inside security we have some options here for enabling and customizing two-factor authentication.

You can choose to verify with SMS or with email or with both.

You can even turn both off if you don’t want to use two-factor authentication at all.

This however is not recommended as it makes your account much more susceptible to hacking.

Now Let’s move to the Billing tab and discuss how we manage subscriptions.

Clicking into the Billing tab, we are immediately shown our current plan.

If we want to change this, we can simply click on the Manage Subscriptions button.

This will bring us to the OCS360 Billing Portal.

Click Manage Subscriptions in the top right of this page and here we can customise our plan.

Scrolling down to the bottom we have buttons to modify or cancel our existing subscriptions.

If we choose modify we would be shown all the available plans along with options to add or remove OCS’s, to include or exclude OCS 360 remote support, to change our billing period and more.

What if we wanted to add a user to our OCS 360 dashboard with the abilities to add and remove controllers, view data, create custom dashboards, and more.

To do this, we could add a tenant admin.

Navigate down to the Admins tab from the bar on the left side.

This is a tenant admin’s area.

Clicking the plus icon in the top right will open the Add Admin Wizard.

Here we can fill in the information of the person we wish to add.

If the email we input already has an OCS360 or Horner account linked to it, then this will automatically be filled out as we can see.

Once we fill everything in and click the add button, this person will be added as a tenant admin, meaning they have access to everything except for the billing information.

What does it look like for these other admins?

If we navigate back to accounts, there’s a button at the top right corner of this first menu called switch accounts.

This will open a new menu listing all the available accounts.

We can select any of these accounts and click the log in button.

This will let us see what the account sees when they log in.

If we view the OCS360 dashboard through this tenant admin account, we can notice that they have access to dashboards, profiles, rule chains, basically everything except for our billing information.

Quickly, before our next demonstration, we need to discuss variables in a little more detail.

In our first demonstration, we showed that by simply checking this checkbox, your variables would be synced with OCS360 and if we check our OCS360 configuration, we can see that this is indeed the case.

However, adding variables in this way adds them to this default group of what is called publish variables.

publish variables can only send data to OCS 360 and cannot be written to from OCS 360.

If we had variables which we wanted to write to, for example some setpoint variables, we would create a new group and mark it as a subscribe group.

Now we can make changes to these variables from OCS 360.

With that covered, let’s now put those subscribe variables to use with the new widgets available in the most recent update.

If we navigate to dashboards, we have already created a demo dashboard for this showcase.

Here we have a very simple dashboard that displays the four temperatures of our four different pizza ovens, and beside them we have two dials that let us control the target temperature and the cook time.

Over on the bench, here we have the controller that’s running our pizza oven program.

As you can see, everything is successfully connected, as our values seem to be the same across both.

Back in OCS360, we can use these dials to alter the target temperature and cook time on our controller.

However, sometimes it can be easier to simply type in a desired value instead of trying to use these dials.

Well, in the most recent update, we have just added some new widgets that make this possible.

Click on edit mode to get started.
11:39
From here, select all widgets from the top, and then we are looking for the data update button.

This will add the widget to our dashboard and open up the configuration menu for that widget.

We choose a target device.

For this demonstration, we will choose the CPU 300 oven, which is the controller we added in a previous demonstration.

Then, under Appearance, we will get back to the customisation of this widget in just a minute, but for now, skip about halfway down to the Data Update settings.

In this drop-down, we will find all the variables that are in Subscribe Groups, and in this case, we only have two.

We will choose Target Oven Temp, then we click Add, and that is our basic data update button initialized and ready to go.

Now, with the functionality complete, let’s improve the design.

Let’s add a title and change the send button text to something more fitting.

To start, click on the pencil icon in this widget to enter the configuration menu again.

Here, under Appearance, we can change the title.

into the box labeled widget legend we can type a suitable title in this case we will go with target temperature then for the button text let’s change it to update as that feels more suitable for our application we could add further changes but for now this is enough for our demonstration so we will click the apply button at the top and here is our customized button it looks a lot better However, the title is still a bit small.

Let’s fix that.

Once again, click on the pencil icon in this widget to enter edit mode.

Then, under appearance, let’s change the font size from 12 pixels to 16 pixels.

Once again, we click apply to confirm our changes, and now that looks a lot better.

Our button is now ready to go, but it would be nice if we had another one to edit cooktime with.

Instead of remaking it from scratch, we can simply duplicate the one we just made.

Right click on the widget you want to duplicate and select Copy.

Then right click on any blank area of your dashboard and click Paste.

Now we have two buttons that do the same thing.

So let’s go into Edit Mode, under Appearance, click on the Data Update Settings, and from the drop-down we will select the CookTMRPreset variable.

Now, our button will control the Cook temperature instead.

So, before we click apply, we will quickly update the title text to match.

And now, our dashboard has been upgraded with these new data update buttons.

Another new widget added recently is called the Label widget.

This lets us place a title about both sections of our dashboard to describe what they do.

If we click Add Widget and then select All Widgets, in this list we can find the Label widget.

It’s quite a simple widget, but we can use it to insert a title.

So let’s add Oven Zone Temperatures.

Then we can change the font size, 48 pixels should be good for this demonstration.

and finally we can change the colour. A bright red should work well.

You can customise your label however you want but once finished click the add button and it will be added to your dashboard and just like that we now have a title which we can resize and place at the top of our dashboard.

There are many more new widgets like this in OCS 360 allowing you to customise your dashboards however you like.

For our final demonstration in this webinar, we want to showcase how you can duplicate dashboards in OCS360. Here is our dashboard from the previous demonstration.

We have added a few elements, including the name of the business, where this controller is installed, and its location.

For the sake of this demonstration, we are going to pretend that we have set up another pizza oven controller in a different location.

Instead of creating a new dashboard from scratch, we could duplicate this one and reuse it.

If we navigate to devices, you can see we have two controllers set up.

One is our CPU 300 oven, which is what we have been working with so far.

But the other one is a Canvas 7D controller with the same program loaded onto it.

It’s this controller that we will be creating a new dashboard for.

Navigate back to Dashboards, and to start, simply export the existing dashboard you wish to duplicate.

This will download a.json file which contains the dashboard.

Now click on the plus icon, and instead of clicking create new dashboard, we will click import dashboard.

This will open a file explorer window which you will use to navigate to the.json file we have just exported.

Click open, then import and as you can see we now have two instances of that dashboard.

We can tell that this is the imported one as it was created later.

To make that a bit more clear however, we will change the name and description of this new dashboard.

Now, we have two clearly delineated dashboards, but we are not quite done yet.

Opening the new dashboard, we can notice a few things.

Firstly, we will need to change the business name and location.

This is done very simply, by just changing the text.

However, we can also notice that our data widgets aren’t quite working correctly.

The zone temperatures seem unchanged but the dials and the data update boxes are displaying errors. To fix this we need to assign a controller to this widget.

We do this by clicking on the pencil icon to enter edit mode and then selecting the device drop down menu.

Click the X button to clear the current device and select the correct one from the list.

In our case that would be the We repeat this process for every zone temperature monitor in our dashboard.

This may be a little tedious, but it’s still a lot faster than creating a new dashboard from scratch.

For the dials and update boxes, it’s a very similar procedure.

Enter edit mode, then under target device, select the device you want from the list.

We will go ahead and repeat this for the remaining widgets.

And, just like that, we have now successfully duplicated our pizza oven controller dashboard and assigned the new controller to all the widgets.

In this final segment, we are going to showcase some upcoming features for OCS360.

Let’s begin with a feature that’s just been added, OCS360 Remote.

OCS360 Remote allows users to access and use installed controllers anywhere in the world over the internet.

This means that any operation from troubleshooting to uploading to downloading or anything else you would normally do with a controller on the factory floor can now be done entirely over the web.

This process is quick and simple to set up and there is no need for advanced firewall rules or extra network security, as the OCS360 Secure Tunnel protects your connection.

Next, coming later this year, we have support for the Micro Series and CPU250.

These extremely popular products will be receiving OCS360 support in the coming months.

And finally, we have WebMI 2.0 Hosting.

Horner controllers are transitioning away from WebMI 1.0, and to further upgrade your controllers we’ll be introducing WebMI 2.0 Hosting to OCS360.

This means you can access WebMI pages from anywhere in the world, and without the restriction of being tied to a local network.
